The future is bright for Cam Stockman. Born in the heart of Manchester's underground scene, he has quickly become a name to watch - with his breakout track "Into My Life" earning support from the likes of Chris Stussy, Michael Bibi & Max Dean. Now firmly cemented as one of the most exciting names emerging in the UK scene, we caught up with Cam ahead of his sold out FLY CLUB headline on Friday.
What’s your earliest memory of dance music?
Listening to Head Kandi CD’s in my dad’s car on the way to watch the football. As a raver, going to Sankey’s to watch the Martinez Brothers.
Manchester has a long roster of music legends from the city - what do you think makes it a melting pot for music?
I think it’s down to the community we surround ourselves in. Everyone seems to back their own in Manchester – we’re passionate on supporting local talent.
What has been your most notable part of your DJ/producer journey so far?
The one thing I have realised is patience is key, not everything has to be rushed, especially clearance ;)
Are there any tracks that you have produced that you think define you best? Why do you feel that this track best represents you?
It’s hard to choose one specific track. High energy through my bass or synths is the goal - I create tunes thinking about what I would want to hear if I was on the dancefloor.
The dancefloor needs an energy boost. What’s your USB weapon of choice to bring it back to life?
Sweat by Locky and MAD.AGAIN – serious groove with high energy.
This is your first time playing in Scotland. What are you most looking forward to about your set?
I’m most excited about playing in front of my first ever Scottish crowd. New dancefloor and new faces to test out some tunes from myself and friends.
If you could change one thing in the world of dance music, what would it be?
Nightclubs closing down due to lack of funding or being took over by property developers!
What’s coming up next for you - anything new you’d like to share?
Tight lipped on the release schedule but expect collab’s and a lot of debut’s in places such as Ibiza, Parklife and London.
