Irish DJ and producer Robbie Doherty makes his long-awaited FLY club debut this Friday. Ahead of the set, we sit down with him to ask the big questions — going through his musical idols, first records and rare sightings of the Haggis.

Tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into DJing and Production?

I started out producing shortly after a family holiday in Ibiza then I was around 16 years old. At first it was a hobby so it’s an amazing turn of events I now get to play all over the world!

Biggest musical influences?

Carl cox and Sasha were early influences when I first started listening to electronic music. However I’m constantly discovering new and exciting artists that inspire me.

If you could time-travel to any era of electronic music, which one would you want to play in?

The obvious answer is probably the 90s and I’m sure most people would agree as there was so much fresh electronic music being made in that decade! However, I’d settle for a trip to space Ibiza before it closed. Sadly I never actually got to go before it did!

Top 3 favourite tracks to play out in your sets right now or just tracks you’re loving?

I play a lot of my own music in my sets at the moment. One of my favourites I’ve made that’s in most of my sets is flawless. I have also been playing an unreleased track by IDEMI lots in my sets! Those guys are making some great music. The third would have to be the vinyl only release by Stussy and Locklead ‘let’s get this’ (FC02)

What’s your experience been with Scottish Crowds?

Absolutely class! Lively crowds everytime.

Looking forward to Friday?

Absolutely!!!!! Really looking forward to my Fly debut.
